Obituary for Cora Waters

Cora Edith Mae (Stewart)Waters age 96 of Loudon, passed away July 5, 2017. Cora was born June 20, 1921 in the mountains of Tellico Plains to the late William and Sara Jane (Miller) Stewart. As a child, the family moved by horse and wagon to Madisonville. She was the last surviving child of 10. Living most of her life in Loudon, she enjoyed gardening of every variety, she was a talented quilter and enjoyed embroidery; an avid reader and in recent years took up Adult Coloring which she thoroughly enjoyed.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 58 years, Ed Waters; son-in-laws, Alger Watkins and Claude Goble; special grandson, James Gryder; 4 brothers and 5 sisters. She is survived by children, Hilda Stiles 'Tiny', Margaret L. 'Tootsie' Watkins, Patricia Goble all of Loudon; Jake and Marie Waters, Lenoir City; grandchildren and spouses, Doris and Wayne Hembree, Jean Watkins, Pat and Rhea Watkins, Beth and Ricky Furrow, Junior and Missy Waters, Bridget and Terry Lankford, Claudia and Josh Wilkerson; great-grandchildren, Jonathan Hembree, Adam and Cindy Hembree, Ashley Henderson, Brody and Gabe Waters, Noah Watkins, Zoey and Jace Wilkerson, great-great grandchildren, Hunter, Alex and Bailey Hembree; special grandchildren, Quentin Gryder and Margie Kelso Watkins, numerous nieces, nephews and her faithful cat friend, Jessie. Special thanks to her caretaker, Patricia Croft and the staff of Amedisys Hospice, Sweetwater.

Services honoring and remembering Cora Waters will be held 7:00 PM Friday, July 7th, McGill Click Chapel with Rev. Steven Croft officiating. Interment 1:00 PM Saturday in Ragain Cemetery, Loudon. The family will receive friends 5:00 7:00 PM Friday prior to the service at McGill Click Funerals & Cremations, 1366 Hwy 72 N. Loudon.
