Obituary for Kenneth Barry Brehne

Brehne, Kenneth – age 82 of the Rarity Bay Community in Vonore, passed away peacefully at his home Wednesday, October 18, 2017. Ken and his wife Gale moved to the Rarity Bay Community sixteen years ago. They loved the peaceful scenery, made many wonderful friends, and enjoyed great neighbors.
Ken was a veteran of the United States Army Reserve; he received his Doctorate in Optometry from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry and practiced for many years in New Jersey and Tennessee. He taught at the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis after retiring from private practice. Even after retirement, he could be found assisting other doctors in the area.
Ken loved people, and he loved life. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, eating kosher and non-kosher foods, and traveling. He had a keen sense of humor, happy-go-lucky attitude, and always made people smile. Ken will be admired for the bravery he showed during his illness.
Ken is preceded in death by his parents, Edward Jack and Blanche (Goldsmith) Brehne and brother, Lawrence Brehne. He is survived by the love of his life and his best friend of 26 years, Gale (English) Brehne; sons and daughter-in-law, Paul and Natalie Brehne, Verona, New Jersey and Michael Brehne, Maitland, Florida; daughter and son-in-law, Ellen and Mitchell Marx, Ocean Point, New Jersey; grandchildren, Matthew Brehne, Gabrielle Brehne, Shawn Coval, Erika Brehne, and Nickolas Brehne; step-son and daughter-in-law, Ed and Judy Sullivan, Oak Ridge.
